Press Release

Dizzyfeet Dancing are proud to present:
18th & 19 January 2019, Hilton @ The Ageas Bowl

A glorious opportunity to attend a “Strictly” style dance event … and maybe …even win!

Do you enjoy sumptuous, three-course dinners lovingly prepared by gourmet chefs ?
Is part of your Saturday night’s entertainment enjoying the glamorous spectacle of a knockout ballroom event? Have you ever sat there watching celebrities dancing on a Saturday night and thought to yourself “I could do that!”?
Well, now’s your chance to enjoy the experience live, because Southampton is about to have its very own world-class dinner and dance spectacular, with champion professionals, pro-am competitions and the first class wining and dining as you’d expect from the Hilton Hotel.

Southampton dance company, Dizzyfeet, based in the heart of the city, are hosting the event at Hilton @ The Ageas Bowl in January. They invite you to feast on the fabulous hospitality offered by this prestigious venue while enjoying a spectacular evening of ballroom dancing … which might even include someone you know strutting their stuff? Or perhaps even YOU … cheered on by family and friends … showing off your best moves on the dance floor. What a Christmas gift that would make!

James Prouton is Southampton’s very own dance champion, competing across the UK, Europe and all over the world and is also the co-founder of Dizzyfeet with his wife and dance partner, Kelly Prouton. A former British & UK champion, James also dances with his pupils in events, one of whom is 81 years young!

This unwavering passion for what he does is what’s really behind the inaugural Britannia Pro-Am Open event, which James felt strongly should be held in his home town to give something back to the city where he first learned to dance. So if you’re the type of individual who prefers the actual dancing to seeing the likes of Ann Widdecombe and Ed Balls providing comic relief, then this is your opportunity to take up the challenge and get involved …for real.

Forget Couch To 5K. This is Sofa to Salsa !

It could be that you just love the spectacle? If that’s you, you’re bound to enjoy our Black Tie Formals on the Friday and Saturday evenings, with three courses, drinks and the finest in dance entertainment live on the floor right in front of you!
Enjoy three sumptuous courses as the professionals perform well-loved dances live on the floor, right before your very eyes. Then, if you’re brave enough, you can have a go with everyone else once the competition is finished.

Whether you’re a regular dancer, if you’re just a bit rusty, or even if you’ve never actually tried ballroom dancing this is the ideal way to put yourself in the shoes of the professionals. This is social dancing at its best … with the emphasis on the social if you prefer to sit back and relax as others strut their stuff – the choice is yours.

Friday’s event revolves around a performance by British Open Professional Champions in Cabaret, Victor Fung and Anastasia Muravyeva. The world-renowned Hilton offers the finest in cuisine with welcome drinks before a full three-course dinner and, later on, you can join in the social dancing on the night, too.

Saturday sees an early start for both the Adult and Children Open Dance competitions, with the finals providing the entertainment for that evening’s Black Tie Formal. As with the previous night, you can expect fantastic food and drink accompanied by a series of dazzling dance-offs including a special event, the Rule Britannia Spectator Challenge, before stepping on to the floor yourself with more social dancing.

Both evening soirées will also feature charity raffles in aid of Wessex Cancer Trust
and Southampton hospitals’ charity Where There’s A Will, with big prizes to be won.
All of the event’s activities will be held in the beautiful grounds of the Hilton @ The Ageas Bowl, where there’s also a specially discounted room rate available for anyone attending either dance event to make a real weekend of it.
